Who We Are
South Bend Roller Derby is a grassroots flat-track roller derby league based in South Bend, Indiana. Founded in 2010 (originally as South Bend Roller Girls), we are a skater-run, volunteer-powered organization dedicated to athletic competition, empowerment, and community connection. We operate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and are proud to support our region both on and off the track.
We field multiple teams that compete throughout the season and represent South Bend at home and on the road. While we take the sport seriously, we also value inclusivity, teamwork, and having fun. Our league is built on respect, support, and the belief that roller derby is for everyone—whether you’re an experienced skater, brand new to the sport, or interested in helping behind the scenes as an official or volunteer.
We are a full member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), the international governing body for women’s flat-track roller derby. As a WFTDA member league, we compete under standardized rules and safety guidelines and are part of a global roller derby community committed to fair play, athletic excellence, and inclusivity. Our affiliation with WFTDA connects us to leagues around the world and allows us to participate in sanctioned competition.
At our core, South Bend Roller Derby is about more than the game. We strive to build confidence, foster leadership, and create a welcoming space for people of all backgrounds—while bringing high-energy, competitive roller derby to our community.
